zonta was founded in buffalo, NY by Marian de forest while working at buffalo express. she dreamed of an organization that would bring together women in executive positions. The word Zonta comes from a Lakota Sioux Indian word that means "honest and trustworthy"1919

erie was the sixth club founded under the zonta name.2019
100th anniversary
zonta international as well as zonta club of erie celebrated 100 years of bettering the lives of women and children world wide.2024
